You are from a family that had civilian victims during the war, or had family members who were part of the KLA, and are wondering what kind of rights you are entitled to by law. There are many benefits that you are entitled to based on the Law on the Rights of the Families of Heroes, Invalids, Veterans and Members of the KLA and Families of the Civilian Victims of War. If your parent died during the war as a solider or as a civilian, then you are entitled to – among many other benefits and free social services – a family pension. The family can also inherit the pension of a war invalid and – according to the Law on the Veterans of the Kosovo Liberation Army – it can inherit the pension of the veteran. The people who are eligible for the pension are the immediate family. The children of the deceased have the right to inherit the pension only up to the age of 18 or 26, depending on when they decide to leave school or university and join the labour market.
